Scruffy Strikes Again

Scruffy lead the teaching on Sunday morning worship. Every Sunday morning the children have a special worship service lead by the children themselves. There is no chapel. We meet in the common area of the boys dorm. Someday they hope to have a mult-purpose building for chapel services. Usually an adult also speaks (that's were Scruffy came in!). The children prepare songs for the worship, prayers, Bible readings and more songs! I was so moved by the level of spirituality here. They really love Jesus in a way that was very authentic. Everyone takes turns with leading...even the little ones. It really makes the "priesthood of all believers" real. We are all important in the family of God. All of us have a role in the "church". Tomorrow night I am leading devotions and am going to try to use the sport of soccer (football) as the metaphor for our lives as Jesus followers. Football is such a passion here...especially for the boys. I want to be able to reach the boys even more. The girls seem very well grounded and mature. The boys seem a little more unsure of themselves and who they are as a child of God. Please pray for me tomorrow (Thursday..we are 9 hours ahead of Phoenix time).

  2. So awesome! Reminds me of the song:

"Can you hear, there's a new song.
Reaching out from the children of freedom.
    Every race and every nation
Sing it out sing a new hallelujah!"
